The following paragraph is my back cover text.
There is a rumor that someone or some people are killing very powerful and evil men around the world. These powerful and evil men are involved with sex slavery rings which typically are made up of children. No evidence points to any suspects. The avenger or avengers are just a rumor after all. A rumor that terrifies these powerful, evil men as though the avenger or avengers are ghosts haunting them. The scenes where these killings take place are so devoid of evidence that most are not considered homicide or end up in some dusty drawer as a cold case file. However, one engraved, aviator knife is found at each location, and the aviator knives are engraved with just one word. That word haunts these powerful, evil men day & night, and that one word is: DEO.
The book will have this passage from Romans in the beginning of the book.
Romans 13:4 “For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.”
My aim is to honor God by showing that God being a God of Justice is not outside His character being a God of Love. I also want US military veterans to never feel like they are murderers but rather God's servants that are agents of wrath.
I saw the X-Files and I thought the pseudo debate that was happening in the plot of the show should be in a Christian apologetics story. I read what Wikipedia said about the Jason Bourne books where Jason Bourne was an identity used to terrorize targets, watched an ad for Call of Duty: Ghosts where the narrator said "Soldiers stand against their enemies, but ghosts haunt them", thought of Operation Wander Souls in Vietnam where actors recorded audio tapes pretending to be in Hell, I said to myself that fear is a tool that is used in warfare. Then I said who knows more about using fear than God whenever He confronts demons? Jesus made some demons in the book of Mark pee their pants, tuck their tail between their legs, and call out for momma. That is God being a God of Justice.
