USS Salem
This is Captain Abrams' ship. The Excelsior class has always been one of my favorite ships in Star Trek, So I was excited to make a story about one.

Excelsior Class Advanced Heavy Cruiser (retrofit)
Service History:USS Salem is an Excelsior Class heavy cruiser named in honor of the heavy cruiser, USS Salem, from Earth's 20th century. Excelsior class starships are older hulls, but through continuous upgrade and modernization programs, they still remain viable assets to Starfleet.
In 2409, Captain Nicholas Abrams and the crew of the Walker Class USS Fletcher was thrown forward in time from the 2250s as a result of Klingon Matriarch J'ula's mycelial weapon during the defense of Starbase 1. The Fletcher was impounded by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers to study the effects of that weapon on the ship's systems, and, after going through an acclimation period, Nick was given command of the USS Salem. She had recently undergone an extensive upgrade, and Starfleet Command decided that she would be a good fit to help Nick transition into a modern Starfleet.
Salem has seen extensive service with Starfleet. She served in the Cardassian Border Wars, the Dominion War, the most recent war with the Klingon Empire, the Iconian War, the war with the Terran Empire, the Klingon Civil War, and numerous other conflicts and fleet actions against enemies from all four quadrants. Salem has had a long and storied career. While she has never made a name for herself like Enterprise, Defiant, or Voyager, her length of service and the fact that she has survived so many wars and conflicts gives her a legendary status all the same, and through continued upgrade and modernization programs, she will continue serving into the foreseeable future.
